The bold vision for the Fox Oakland theater is nearly a reality. Once open, by day the theater will provide a permanent home for Oakland's distinctive, tuition-free charter school dedicated to artistic and academic excellence, Oakland School for the Arts.
At night, the theater will offer premier ground floor bars and restaurants that open out to a courtyard of trees, benches, and newly widened sidewalks. The theater itself will serve as the flagship live music venue for Another Planet Entertainment, well known for bringing outstanding live entertainment to the Greek Theater, Paramount Theater, and other popular Bay Area venues.
The Fox Theater Restoration Project began in January 2007 and the City of Oakland's team of over 600 fine artisans, contracters, engineers, architects, and developers have been hard at work masterfully restoring the theater. Want a sneakpeak? Check out the Fox Theater Restoration Project Team's recently launched website that details the monumental effort.

With your help, we can restore distinctive aesthetic elements of the theater that would not otherwise be included in the current reconstruction efforts, such as, historic paint treatments, replication of light fixtures, and other ornamentation including the stunning Guardians that flank the stage. Donor recognition opportunities include tickets to a Grand Opening Gala in January 2009. Join the Friends of the Oakland Fox and other visionary donors who have supported this herculean effot.
